V came over last week to bake. But because of the horrible humid weather, time constraints and projects to do, we decided to bake something simple.
I suggested Garbage Cookies. Mm yes, its called that because you can dump anything you want into them! We bought Dark chocolate Tim Tams and Banana Nut Crunch.
Recipe from I Am Baker
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp allspice (we omitted this)
1 tsp vanilla (vanilla beans ftw)
3/4 cup shortening (we used unsalted butter)
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup white sugar
1 1/2 cups whole oats (we didnt add this either!)
Plus loads of whatever you like! (We used Tim Tams & Banana Nut Crunch)
1. Sift your dry ingredients together
2. Cream your shortening with the sugar. Add the eggs, vanilla and oats.
3. Add flour mixture to wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
4. Mix in whatever you want! M&Ms.. raisins.. whatever!
Spoon your cookie batter onto baking paper/silicon mat. We found it kinda messy to scoop it onto the mat. We couldn’t get regular sizes.
Ended up piping them instead! Had a little difficulty at first, because of the chunky choice of ingredients. But they turned out well. That’s my hands btw 😛
V’s turn to pipe!
Messy workspace! Cooled them and packed them into pretty bags.
There were quite some cookies! Brought most of it to school the next day to distribute.
Saved some for ourselves too!
Have fun making these and get creative with those ingredients! 🙂
