Cinnamon Rolls & Cream Scones

This was from the day when Vickii came over! Here’s the recipe for cinnamon rolls (lazy people version) and cream scones πŸ™‚

I personally did not enjoy the cinnamon rolls at all. We thought we could use a cheat version. No yeast.. no waiting and stuff. And we learnt our lesson that the good old fashioned way is best. Will share the recipe anyway!

On the other hand, we made the most amazing scones. That made up for our disappointing cinnamon rolls πŸ˜›

These were quick and fun to make. Just mixing the dough ingredients together, rolling it out, spreading the gooey insides (we added way more).

Cinnamon Rolls
Recipe from
here

Dough:

2 3/4 c. all-purpose flour (+extra for dusting)
2 tbsp. sugar
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1 1/4 c. buttermilk
6 tbsp. melted butter (unsalted)

Gooey Insides:

2 tbsp. melted butter
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. cinnamon
a pinch of salt

Gooey Outsides:

2 tbsp. water
3/4 to 1 c. powdered sugar
a pinch of salt

Rolled it up

Sliced them. Pretty!

Placed them in a lined springform tin. Baked it at 215C for about 35 mins. We played around with the temperature and time. But yeah, it’s about there.

And when warm, drizzle the glaze over.

Ready to eat!

Too floury/doughy tasting for us. Maybe because we’re big fans of cinnamon rolls/sticky buns. Ate too many good ones outside that we’re really quite picky about it. It didn’t stay soft for long either. But if you’re not picky about it and want a quick fix, this is for you πŸ™‚

Next we made Cream Scones! This is by far the best scone recipe i’ve tried! Oh Dorie, i am officially a fan of yours. HAHA.

Cream Scones
FromΒ Dorie Greenspan’s Baking: From My Home to Yours

1 large egg
2/3 cup cold heavy cream
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
5 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces and chilled

I HIGHLY recommend this recipe. We added some chocolate chips in!

Bake at 200C for about 20 mins!

Oh so good πŸ˜‰ Awesome with a cup of milk!

  1. Sorry to hear your cinnamon rolls didn’t turn out well. Perhaps you could use them in some extra rich bread pudding?
