Just wanted to share with you guys one of my orders that i was busy with! This took me a whole day. From making the marshmallow fondant, baking the cake, frosting the cake, covering the cake and painting 🙂
So what did this red velvet cake turn into?
After baking, i leveled the cake! Check the texture out. It does live up to its name i must say. Smooth and soft. There’s a fair bit of cocoa in this one. So the red didn’t come through as much.
Sliced the cake for just 2 layers. Cream cheese frosting! The awesomest part of the cake i think! 🙂
Frost all around.. This is just the ‘crumb layer’ to keep it together. Red velvet is a little crumbly. Yeah, so i added more cream cheese frosting after that.
Took out my marshmallow fondant that i made earlier in the day, coloured it and prepared to cover the cake! I must say its a really good workout 😉
Covered the cake and painted in the details!
This is for a friend who wants a birthday cake for her godma, because she works at Hermes! She initially asked me to make a birkin bag! But i found that too challenging. Especially since i haven’t made a bag cake before! Would really love to take up a cake course on that. So she asked if i could just do the box! Which was really do-able. Energy draining cake. But a great sense of achievement after that.
It’s my 19th birthday this weekend. Yes, i’m 19. Hahahaha. Sunday the 11th to be exact. I await the day where my friends bake me a cake for a change! 😛
Anyway check out Ellie’s awesome attempt at macarons 🙂 Glad my tips and posts on macarons helped her feel more confident 😉
