Homemade Granola

We all love granola, yes? Nothing beats homemade granola, though. Because you’re in control when you make it yourself! You choose what fruits and nuts to put inside, how sweet or crunchy you want it to be 🙂

So you start with throwing rolled oats and your favourite nuts all in a mixing bowl!

Homemade Granola
(Recipe from Joy of Baking)

300g old fashioned rolled oats (Not instant ones!)
75g silvered almonds
45g raw sunflower seeds
45g raw pumpkin seeds
5g wheat germ (I didn’t use this! Couldn’t find it in the supermarket. It’s optional btw)
1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp melted butter or canola oil (I used olive butter)
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 cup dried fruits of your choice (I used cranberries, blueberries, sultanas and raisins)

Toss the cinnamon and salt with the mixed nuts and oats.

Combine your maple syrup with the melted butter.

Drizzle all over! It may seem really wet, but its okay! Pour it alllll in 🙂 Then give it a good mix. Make sure everything is coated with the maple syrup mixture.

Spread it out on parchment paper and bake at 165C for 30 to 45 mins. I gave it a mix at the halfway mark!

They will bake into a beautiful golden brown and crisp up. It’s amazing to see the transformation. It being wet and soggy like.. To something so golden and crisp. Yay!

Let cool completely and toss in the dried fruits.

Store in an airtight container and then in the fridge. Will store for a few weeks! But doesn’t really matter, because this baby isn’t gonna last long with it being so yummy, would it? 😛

As most would say after making something homemade.. “I’m never gonna get a storebought one ever again!” Enjoy 🙂

  1. This looks great! I love homemade granola too 🙂 It seems much more sustaining than many packet cereals and I can relaly go for hours on a small bowl of homemade granola whereas I feel hungry after a couple of hours on something else!

      gives you the energy boost for the day. awesome for breakfast.
      this recipe made me about 5 cups.
      by that very day, at least half was gone!
